Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Jul is an AI-powered book generation platform operated by Jul's Publishing House ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use our platform. It also outlines your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To authenticate you and maintain your account security
  • To enforce usage quotas and subscription tier limits
  • To send service-related communications (e.g. email verification, account alerts)
  • To process upgrade requests and issue redemption codes
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data for unsolicited marketing without your consent.

4. Third-Party AI Providers

When you generate book content, your prompts and inputs are transmitted to one or more third-party AI providers. We currently use:

We encourage you to review the data handling policies of these providers. We are not responsible for how they process data sent through their APIs. Do not include sensitive personal information in your book generation prompts.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a secured PostgreSQL database. API keys are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, unless we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes. Generated books and job records may be retained for a limited period after deletion for audit and abuse-prevention purposes.

7. Your Rights (NDPR / NDPA)

Under Nigerian data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — request that inaccurate data be corrected
  • Deletion — request that your personal data be deleted
  • Objection — object to specific types of processing
  • Portability — receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent

8. Cookies

Jul uses minimal browser storage (localStorage) to remember your theme preference and authentication session. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies beyond what is set by our authentication and Google OAuth integrations.

9. Children's Privacy

Jul is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice in the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
